THE HOMEBOY FOUNDATION

Ben Franklin is my Homeboy Foundation for Hurricane Katrina Relief

The Homeboy Foundation is an organization with a dual mission. Primarily, we look to engage college and university students with the legacy of their educational facilities. We hope to achieve this goal by creating unique “founder t-shirts” for schools, which would create awareness and bring the legacy of great Americans like Ben Franklin, Lucy Scribner, etc closer to some of the people they thought most important: students. The second purpose of our organization is to have an outlet for college and university students to donate to charities. Part of the nature of the Homeboy Foundation is that it began as a Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund. With this in mind, the Foundation continues to be a charitable organization, and will continue to contribute funds to different groups that support natural disaster relief. The Homeboy Foundation began with the creation of “Ben Franklin is My Homeboy” t-shirts at Franklin & Marshall College. We had no way of knowing that the t-shirts would be so popular, and because of the design and the nature of their purpose (Hurricane Relief) we sold 500 and made almost $10,000. Using F&M as a case study we believe that this would be a successful fundraiser across the United States.
